UPDATE | Comparing Two $1,3950,000 Homes in Skagit Valley
Sep 14, 2023
UPDATE | This home sold on 12-1-23 for 1,300,000. This gives you an indication of where the market is in parts of Skagit Valley. Stay tuned for more updates on the homes I tour.
When it comes to real estate in Skagit Valley, one of the constants is the diversity of what this region has to offer. Your new home may come with mountain, lake, Puget Sound or woodland views in this part of the Pacific Northwest.
I recently went on home tours of two wildly different homes with the same price tag, similar square footage and lot size, but with altogether opposite intentions for living.
The first Skagit Valley home, boasted an almost 1 acre lot with a beautifully landscaped and expansive yard.
I can see a lot of bicycle riding, golf chipping, bbq's, raised garden beds and plenty of animals on this property and takes me back to some of the homes we had like this while raising our family (we even raised chickens too - maybe a possibility here).
Walking into the home, you're immediately greeted by the openess of the large entertaining space. The floor-to-ceiling fireplace will keep you toasty during our long winter months.
Built in 2016, this home feels modern and fresh and ready to move in. The fixture, finishes and well-designed home (main level primary is a favorite), dual furnace, custom cabinets, etc. make this home walk-in ready for the upcoming Holiday Season.
Buyers for this home will love the proximity to the cities of Burlington, Edison, LaConner and Anacortes for work and school, while feeling apart from the hustle-bustle on a tree-lined lane with wonderful neighbors. Check out the full listing here. If you need buyer representation, don't hesitate to reach out to me by emailing [email protected].
UPDATE | This home sold for 1.250,000 on 11-9-23.
House No. 2 has the same price tag as of today, but is for a very different buyer.
This home is listed as being in Anacortes, but as I soon discovered, from my vantage point in Burlington, I was taken toward Whidbey Island over to Lake Campbell, Lake Erie and finally to the house perched above Alexander Beach with peek-a-boo views of Burrows Bay. (From my favorite restaurant in Anacortes, though, it's only a 12 minute drive (yippee).
Built in 1992, this home is out of the way of any hustle-bustle with woodland and Sound views, unique aspects like a glassed-in greenhouse, private drive, large 3-garage with RV parking, gardens below AND community amenities including beach access and moorage!

So, there you have it. A short tale of two wildly different properties appealing to different buyers, yet with the same price tag. Here are the stats below from my spreadsheet.

PS: I want to thank listing agent, Shalyce Pocock for the first home, who saw I was coming to tour and quickly ran over to turn on lights and music so the house could show in its best light - wasn't necessary. The house was stunning without it.
